Katherine B. Smith was appointed Consul General on June 4th, 2009 for the Bahamas Consulate General in Atlanta, Georgia and the Southeastern United States. She is The Bahamas’ first Consul General for the Southeastern United States which includes; Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
The Consulate Office represents the interest of Bahamians resident in the Southeastern United States and actively pursues trade and investment opportunities for the Bahamas. Prior to her appointment as Consul General, she served as a Senator and Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister in Freeport, Grand Bahama; her portfolio responsibilities included Bahamas Information Service, the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas and administrative overview of the Office of The Prime Minister.
She has held several Senior Management positions with a number of Grand Bahama based companies; The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Hutchison Ports and Properties Division, Atlantic Beach and Lucaya Golf and Country Club, and Running Mon Marina and Resort. Her areas of expertise include; Public Relations and Marketing, Human Resources, Hotel Operations, and Business and Economic Development.
Smith has an Associate of Arts Degree in Journalism from Palm Beach Community College, and a Bachelors of Science in Management from DeVry University. She is married and the mother of 2 girls and 1 boy.


The Bahamas Consulate General in Atlanta is dedicated to serving Bahamian Nationals located through out the South East region. We continue to be active in the communities and extend bilateral relations in the areas of trade, investment and Tourism.
