Consul General Katherine B. Smith and Consul Monique D. Vanderpool along with Chris Aubanel, Sales Executive of Grand Lucaya Resort made courtesy calls to notable members of the North Carolina Community: Mayor of Raleigh North Carolina, Charles Meeker, Chamber of Commerce President Harry Schmitt and members of the State of North Carolina Department of Commerce: Jean C. Davis, Lynn D. Minges and J.Keith Crisco. While in North Carolina Consul General Katherine B. Smith and Consul Monique D. Vanderpool met with Bahamian students and members of the Bahamian Community.
Consul General Katherine Smith, Spelman College President Dr. Beverly Tatum and Vice President for Enrollment Management at Spelman College. Mrs. Arlene Wesley Cash promote a $150,000.00 scholarship being given to a high achieving Bahamian female student this year to attend Spelman College.
General Smith visits Kennesaw State University, toured the campus, visited with advisers in the international student department and met with Bahamian students at the University. The Consul General continues to visit colleges and Universities in the Southeastern United States to look at the opportunities available for Bahamian students.
Bahamian Nationals attending the Annual Shriners Conventions held in Atlanta in August 2009 were also hosted to a welcome reception at The Consulate’s official residence. They received a warm welcome from the BAHAMAS CONSULATE GENERAL ATLANTA staff that was on hand to greet and host them.
