The Passport Office has advised that Foreign Documents such as birth certificates, presented to the
Consulate cannot be accepted without first being authenticated, either by a notary followed by a county
Clerk; or by an Apostille from the Department of State. The office of the Department of State with

In this regard they have advised that no Travel Documents are to be issued to children born in the United
States to Bahamian parents without a properly authenticated United States birth certificate.
